Lakeview Heights: Participate

Hynes Developments works closely with local governmental officials and the community in order to create a community that truly reflects the interests of the stakeholders. We will hold various public information meetings to ensure that our plans correspond with the needs of the community.

The Process

In November 2007, our ongoing collaboration with the Kelowna residents began. With an anticipated 30 people to attend, we were pleasantly surprised by the 150 residents who came out to acquire information and express their ideas.

Our team began by linking the similarities between the regional character of the sloped orchards and vineyards with the organic warmth of Tuscan villages. The response was overwhelming.

The idea of a human scale, mixed use village resonated so strongly that a few in attendance were fairly shouting their approval. The night prompted productive discussion about how to construct a place that exuded a warm village atmosphere: creating walkable neighbourhoods, a place for all ages and abilities, and a place of inclusion. What stuck out was a desire to connect with the future, to be with the next generation in a way that creates the powerful bonds of a community over time, and the respect for the places and achievements of those who have gone before us.

The evening was a first of a series of efforts to connect with the residents to ensure that Lakeview Village becomes a place for its people.

Lakeview Heights
